About me
Born and raised in Greenwood, South Carolina, I have lived a small town life with a wanderer's heart and a passion for adventure.
My love for photography began in a One-Hour Photo Lab when I not only wanted to produce the best product for my customers but also wanted to know why their images turned out the way they did and how they could make them better. Thus began my thirst for knowledge in the photography world.
I spent years photographing with a 35mm Nikon FM camera and fell in love with the darkroom and printing images by hand. When digital technology became the norm, I took to the changes but kept my roots with film photography.
Photography has always been a tool for me to express ideas, let go of conformity, explore new lands, see beautiful places, and create wonderful memories to share. I spend my creative time reinterpreting my environment and the things I find beautiful by creating a new beauty that others may not see. My photographic tools include an iPhone, a Holga and Diana, and a Nikon D300.
I find joy in showing others how to take control of their creative vision no matter the tool they are holding and share my knowledge by teaching workshops and one on one lessons.
Orchid Rhythm is a small series of images I created while an orchid I was caring for was blooming. For weeks I watched the plant change and almost daily I would see something new come to life in the plant. I particularly enjoy creating rhythm and balance through repeating patterns and simple shapes.
Get Lost is a collection of images taken on road trips throughout the South East. All the images were taken with a plastic medium format film camera called a Holga. Holga cameras are best best known for the beauty of the imperfect image such as light leaks and harsh vignette.
This series celebrates the beauty of the land and the interpretation of the land through a plastic lens.
